Security Engineer

Overview\n\nThe role of Security Engineer sits within Enterprise Services. The employee will be involved in the installation and commissioning of a range of security systems. The Security Engineer will have a strong understanding of a range of security products and the underpinning theory as to how they operate.

This would include CCTV, Access Control, Intercom and how they may connect into other systems. A good understanding of IP networking and how it relates to IP based security systems is also required. As part of this role the engineer must also be a capable structured cabling installer as they may be involved in installing the network infrastructure the security system sits on or aid in the installation of structured cabling systems in other areas of the business as the need arises.\n\n[Company Name] prides itself on quality of our installations and how we engage with the customer, as a customer facing operative the engineer will be expected to provide a high level of customer service in keeping with [Company Name] standards as well as proving clear and concise communication both internally and externally.

All engineers are expected to be able to follow company processes relating to work generated documentation and our internal paperwork and systems.\n\nKey Tasks and Responsibilities\n\nInstallation and commissioning of Access Control and Intercom Systems.\nMaintenance and fault calls on and Access Control and Intercom Systems.\nInstallation and commissioning of CCTV Systems.\nMaintenance and fault calls of CCTV Systems.\nInstallation and testing of Structured Cabling Systems.\nInterpreting and understanding proposal documents, schematics and drawings.\nAccurate and timely completion of all work-related documentation including but not\nlimited to test results, commissioning information, drawings and O&M information.\nEnsure the highest quality of workmanship at all times.\nEnsure accurate, clear and concise documentation at all times.\nSelf-auditing own work.\nInterfacing with other systems and sub-contractors, in particular but not limited to\nBuilding Intelligence and Fire and Intruder alarm services and other life safety systems.\nAccurate and timely completion of all internal documentation as required in your employment contract.\nMaintain adherence to [Company Name] health and safety standards at all times.\nThis list is not exhaustive and you may be asked to assist in other areas of the business as the need arises.Minimum Requirements\n\nDemonstrable knowledge of Access Control and Intercom Installation.\nDemonstrable knowledge of commissioning Access Control and Intercom systems.\nDemonstrable knowledge of CCTV Installation.\nDemonstrable knowledge of commissioning CCTV systems.\nDemonstrable knowledge of Structured Cabling Systems.\nPreviously verifiable experience working in the electronic securities sector.\nUnderstanding of the interfacing requirements between Access Control systems and\nCCTV, Building Intelligence and a buildings life safety systems.\nKnowledge of both open protocol and closed protocol systems\nGood working knowledge of IP networking and it related to IP based security systems.\nGood knowledge of basic electrical principles such as measuring voltage and current drain.\nGood attention to detail and accuracy while completing documentation.\nGood IT competence.\nWorking knowledge of current and prevalent Access Control and CCTV standards.\nFlexible approach to working location and times.\n[Driving Licence Requirement].\nCSCS / ECS Card.Enhanced Requirements\n\nIndustry recognised training and certification in Access Control systems.\nIndustry recognised training or proven experience in the design of Access Control systems.\nIndustry recognised training and certification in CCTV systems.\nIndustry recognised training or proven experience in the design of CCTV systems.\nA high technical understanding and proven experience in IP networking, including switching, routing and wireless.\nProven experience and / or industry recognised training with other technologies in the\nIntelligent building space such as CCTV, Intelligent Lighting, HVAC and Energy Management.\nExperience working to [Industry Standards]Type: Permanent
