I'm working with a client who are looking for an engineer with solid Java Spring Boot skills and hands‑on experience owning cloud migrations, primarily on AWS.\n\nKey info:\n\nContract: Initial 3 months, with a strong likelihood of 6-9 months extension\nStart date: ASAP\nDay rate: £540\nInside IR35\nHybrid: Manchester (2 days per week in the office)\nTeam size: 4-5 engineers\nInterview process:- 1st stage virtual (75 mins technical + 15 mins Q&A)\n\n- 2nd stage in‑person (90 mins: migration knowledge + pairing exercise)\n\nRole highlights:\n\nJava & Spring Boot development\nOwning and delivering cloud migrations\nMigrating a full product stack to cloud services\nHeavy focus on AWS (infrastructure, databases, frameworks, services)\nWorking closely with engineers and stakeholders across teams\nQuickly learning existing systems and domain knowledge\nUsing AI tools to support development and delivery \n\nKey skills they're looking for:\n\nExperience with Java, including Spring Boot\nProven experience owning or delivering cloud migration projects\nStrong AWS knowledge (around 80% of the role is AWS‑focused)\nAbility to move infrastructure, databases, applications, and frameworks to the cloud\nStrong communication skills - comfortable handling questions and integrations across teams\nAbility to ramp up quickly in unfamiliar systems \n\nNice‑to‑haves (not essential):\n\nExperience re‑platforming or modernising legacy systems\nBroader DevOps or CI/CD exposure\nPrevious use of AI‑assisted coding toolsPlease click to find out more about our Key Information Documents.
